TRANSESOPHAGEAL ECHOCARDIOGRAM

On occasions the images obtained by conventional cardiac ultrasound (through the chest wall) are not of the best quality or further detail is required. In this situation a transesophageal echocardiogram might be indicated. With this procedure a small probe is placed in your esophagus (tube connecting your mouth and stomach) and clear images of your heart are obtained.

Our doctors have performed numerous TEEs and pay close attention to patient comfort by optimizing the sedation used during the procedure. Using the appropriate conscious sedation can make this experience almost unnoticeable.
